Global TC Activity remains at 30-year lows at least — The last 24-months of ACE at 1090 represents a decrease from the previous months and a return to the levels of September 2009…Since Hurricane Katrina (August 2005) and the publication of high-profile papers in Nature and Science, global tropical cyclone ACE has collapsed in half. This continues the now 4-consecutive years global crash in tropical cyclone activity. While the Atlantic on average makes up about 10% of the global, yearly hurricane activity, the other 90% deserves attention and has been significantly depressed since 2007. See Figure below.
Northern Hemisphere year-to-date ACE is nearing 50% below normal. The Western North Pacific is at 17% of normal (or the past 30-year average).
August 8: Current 7-10 day forecast models see little if any tropical activity on the horizon.
Colin and Bonnie both go into the books as a couple of the weakest tropical cyclones on record. No storms were recorded in the Eastern Pacific during July!
August and September will have to be record activity for the hurricane forecasts to pan out in the North Atlantic. See discussion at Watts Up With That?
July 31: Current ACE for July in the Northern Hemisphere is 14.2 and consists of Alex, Chanson, Bonnie, and Chanthu. No ACE was recorded in the Eastern Pacific.
Note: Southern Hemisphere tropical cyclone data is spotty prior to the introduction of reliable satellite monitoring, thus the ACE represented at the beginning of the 1980s is likely underestimated due to missing data. Thus, it is possible that the current global collapse in TC ACE is comparable to lows experienced prior to 30-years ago…
Climatological yearly ACE and HDAYS are based upon 1980-2009 values (last 30 years)

“We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate,” the message said. “This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further.”
Well, Al. As much as I like to ripp on you and your religion, too bad about the divorce thing. I hope for it to go as painlessly for your family as possible. I mean that.
As far as privacy goes, unlike Sara Palin, I’m sure your media flunkies will give you a great deal.
In completely unrelated news Elsa Wenzel at GreenTech.com talks about how divorce “pains the planet”:
As if the burden of divorce weren’t bad enough, people with failed marriages can be blamed for global warming, according to a study by Michigan State University.
Divorced couples use up more space in their respective homes, which amounts to to 38 million more rooms worldwide to light, heat and cool, noted the report.
And people who divorced used 73 billion kilowatt-hours more of electricity and 627 billion gallons of water than they would otherwise in 2005.
Dissolving a marriage also means doubling possessions, from the lowly can opener to the SUV. The report, however, did not estimate how many more natural resources the children of shared-custody parents consume by getting birthday and holiday gifts twice.
Nor did it count the greenhouse gases spent to shuttle kids between their pair of energy-hogging households. (Tip for carbon offsetting services: the domain name OffsetMyDivorce.com is available.).
yea. That’stoo easy.
Oh well. So what if Al Gore contributes to the very thing he is looking to end. If you watch the Google Advertisements, you can click on an ad for Al Gore’s website so he helps keep the lights on here too.
Do it for the children.
Adam Carolla Complains About Electric Cars. It is not suitable for work due to language, but that doesn’t change the accuracy of what he is saying.
Lee Doren put out a video not too long ago talking about how the temperature decline was hidden by Mann’s famous Hockey Stick:
I had to go all the way to Myrtle Beach and WMBF News for this one:
Former Vice President Al Gore’s name has become synonymous with global warming. Gore pressured the public, saying people are solely responsible for global warming, and created a “go green” mania.
However, Gore’s movie, The Inconvenient Truth, has much opposition that the public may not know. Ian Plumber of Adelaide University says climate data has been massaged, and there is complete obstruction.
This kind of thing has been going on for a while now because of the film’s political nature and extreme bias. Your first inkling that this is a political issue of course is the fact that Al Gore is the spokesperson for it. But I guess of Perez Hilton stands behind the film then everything is A-OK.
“Because you get one upward trend recently, will mislead a lot of people,” another well-known scientist, Dr. Bill Gray, said as he noted global warming could be over-hyped.
The earth is warming, but scientists remain divided on the cause. Gore makes an argument of a positive correlation between hurricanes and tornadoes.
And others have made an argument as to the positive correlation between the reduction of pirates and the global average temperature. You can make a positive correlation between any two items if you wish, but the climate system is not made up of just to items (Humans and Carbon Dioxide), as many church members seem to forget.
“The same year that we had that spring of big hurricanes,” he said. “We also hit an all-time high of number of tornadoes in United States.”
Kevin Pence of the National Weather Service agrees that we’re seeing more storm reports, but isn’t quick to put the charge on global warming.
There are others out there who think this way… this is nothing new.
“We think that has to do with, you know, folks having cameras on their cell phones, video recorders, education,” he said.
This is a fun one. When this is brought up the conversation usually goes like this:
Eco-Fascist: warmest in a hundred years bla bla bla, I love Al Gore bla bla bla
Me: 100 years eh?
Me: Think those temperature records of 1908 are accurate?
Me: Like… Satellite accurate?
Eco-Fascist: ummmm… sure.
So are our green efforts even making a positive impact? The truth is, despite drastic green efforts, carbon dioxide may never go away because it’s life cycle can be anywhere from 50 to a thousand years.
“It’s not like we can take a vacuum cleaner, turn it on and suck all the greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere and we’d be good to go. It’s not the case,” Pence explains.
With only 30 years of satellite data, the convenient truth is there’s a lot of research that still needs to be done.
Thank you WMBF A lot of research still needs to be done.
And until people take all science into account instead of just the science that agrees with their new world order, this will continue to be defined as a religion.
While brainwashing kids for Mother Earth and Father Gore may be totally acceptable (Gore Youth anyone?) the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK has ruled that some of the recent advertisements from Act On CO2 are making exaggerated claims.
Upholding complaints from members of the public, the ASA said that in both instances the text accompanying the rhymes should have been couched in softer language.
The newspaper adverts were part of a controversial media campaign launched by the DECC last year which attracted a total of 939 complaints.
The watchdog found that the other elements of the campaign, including a television and cinema advert in which a father read his daughter a nightmarish bedtime story about a world blighted by climate change, did not breach its guidelines.
The Jack and Jill rhyme said:
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. There was none as extreme weather due to climate change had caused a drought.
Extreme weather conditions such as flooding, heat waves and storms will become more frequent and intense.
The origional text of Rub a dub dub does not apear to be changed from the origional (See picture):
Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub — a necessary course of action due to flash flooding caused by climate change.
Climate change is happening. Temperature and sea levels are rising. Extreme weather events such as storms, floods and heat waves will become more frequent and intense. If we carry on at this rate, life in 25 years could be very different.
This reminds me of this thing in history known as the Hitler Youth. You see, it is much easier to brainwash children because they don’t think as much as adults do. There is a reason why you can’t vote at age 12, and you can’t purchase a gun or drive a car. Their judgement is not… well. Its not all there.
The Hitler Youth was organized into local cells on a community level. These cells had weekly meetings at which various Nazi doctrines. Now, I won’t go so far as to say anything about our socialist leaders here in the United States…
But you get the idea. Getting power is easy. To keep it, you need to plan ahead. and this whole Global Warming/Climate Change thing is about power.
After all, none of thier “Fixes” actually reduce the role of Government, do they?
How Global Warming distorts US Jobless Figures
We all know global warming causes everything bad and nothing good, but what is the worst thing that it could cause?
Not even close.
No, the worst thing that Global Warming could di is to make Obama look bad. (And I don’t have to use all six degrees of Global Warming to do it)
February 10, 2010 – Right in line with Time Magazine’s typical political stance, they expressed how the blizzards of 2010 were caused by global warming:
In the meantime, warmer air could be supercharged with moisture and, as long as the temperature remains below 32°F, it will result in blizzards rather than drenching winter rainstorms.
And if Time magazine isn’t enough for you, the National Wildlife Federation was a little more certain that it was Global Warming causing the snow. (ripped apart by a fantastic article at Cliamteaudit.org)
Global warming is having a seemingly peculiar effect on winter weather in the northern United States. Winter is becoming milder and shorter on average; spring arrives 10 to 14 days earlier than it did just 20 years ago. But most Snowbelt areas are still experiencing extremely heavy snowstorms. Some places are even expected to have more heavy snowfall events as storm tracks shift northward and as reduced ice cover on the Great Lakes increases lake-effect snowfalls. Even as global warming slowly changes the character of winter, we will still experience significant year-to-year variability in snowfall and temperature because many different factors are at play.
So, according to the greenies, Global Warming causes global cooling.
What does this have to do with US jobless figures and making Obama look bad you may ask?
The White House came out yesterday to try to head of the upcoming and obviously negative news about US jobless figures.
WASHINGTON, March 1 (Reuters) – White House economic adviser Larry Summers said on Monday winter blizzards were likely to distort U.S. February jobless figures, which are due to be released on Friday.
“The blizzards that affected much of the country during the last month are likely to distort the statistics. So it’s going to be very important … to look past whatever the next figures are to gauge the underlying trends,” Summers said in an interview with CNBC, according to a transcript.
Construction activity was hit particularly hard by the storms, but many restaurants and stores also had to close, putting the brakes on hiring plans and temporarily throwing some employees out of work.
Let me paraphrase:
Wait wait everybody, before we tell you how bad they are, remember, it is all because of the winter blizzards. Don’t blame Obama. Blame the weather.
So there you have it. Global Warming = Global Cooling = Blizzards = disruption in Obama’s Plan = Obama looks bad.
When will the craziness ever cease?
Lift your head up high and blow your brains out
For an Argentinean couple, their fears over the effects of Climate Change were the rational reason to take their lives and the lives of their children. Their seven month old is still alive after a neighbor found the carnage three days later. The baby went three days with a bullet hole through her chest before she was found.
Reminds me of a song:
And they think us “teabaggers” are bad. “So save the planet and kill yourself.” What a bunch of idiots.
The Netherlands are a bit confused. They have to be, there is no way to explain this away and still maintain any validity in the IPCC.
According to the 2007 IPCC Report, 55% of the Netherlands is below sea level. You can even see people who have been members of the Church of Global Warming referencing this since 2007. (here, here, here… it goes on, just do as Rosie O’Donnell says and “google it”)
The Netherlands however is a bit miffed, you see because only 26% of their land is below sea level. Or 29% more than the IPCC said.
According to the Dutch authorities, only 26 percent of the country is below sea level, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will be asked to account for its figures, environment ministry spokesman Trimo Vallaart told AFP.
The incident could cause further embarrassment for the IPCC, which recently admitted a claim in the same report that global warming could melt Himalayan glaciers by 2035 was wrong.
IPCC experts calculated that 55 percent of the Netherlands was below sea level by adding the area below sea level — 26 percent — to the area threatened by river flooding — 29 percent — Vallaart said.
“They should have been clearer,” Vallaart said, adding that the Dutch office for environmental planning, an IPCC partner, had exact figures.
My favorite line in this article shows the contempt still for those who dare to question these people:
Glaciologists have discredited the Himalaya claim, which is being withdrawn, and the controversy has given fresh ammunition to climate skeptics.
Mother fracking seriously?? “given fresh ammunition to climate skeptics”? No one else is questioning this crap but the “Skeptics”?
Oh yea, that’s right. That’s why they call it faith.
No evidence could be found to show the claim had been published in a peer-reviewed journal and reports in Britain have said the reference came from green group the WWF, who in turn sourced it to the New Scientist magazine.
You have the IPCC here referencing “peer-reviewed” stuff that referenced the World Wildlife Fund. Tell me… Isn’t a scientific journal referencing an Environmentalist group report be akin to the kind of bias they yelp about if a scientific journals were to reference a company like, oh… Exxon?
Science is supposed to be objective. So what the crap would you call a peer-reviewed report that references the WWF that is then passed along as acceptable material to the IPCC?
There has been a lot of press lately about the Climate Change fraud going on, but this one puts a lot of their “Science” into perspective.
In its most recent report, it stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was being caused by global warming, citing two papers as the source of the information.
However, it can be revealed that one of the sources quoted was a feature article published in a popular magazine for climbers which was based on anecdotal evidence from mountaineers about the changes they were witnessing on the mountainsides around them.
The other was a dissertation written by a geography student, studying for the equivalent of a master’s degree, at the University of Berne in Switzerland that quoted interviews with mountain guides in the Alps.
The revelations, uncovered by The Sunday Telegraph, have raised fresh questions about the quality of the information contained in the report, which was published in 2007.
So, let me get this straight… The entire world’s economic system and the freedom of all people on Earth is threatened because some ice climbers were chatting and some geography student quoted them in a school report?
Well, while we’re taking school reports as expert evidence for policy change, I would like to quote my nephew:
I would ROFLMAO if I wasn’t all like WTF.
