Environmentalists: Baby taxes will help.
Dec 13th
In a world… where being neutered grants you carbon credits… one man has the courage to stand up to the… awha hell, this is just wrong.
Though, the answer to most environmental problems involves taking more of your money (as the expensive of Kyoto has clearly been worth it for 2 of the 15 EU countries that reduced their emissions), this is apparently the case when it comes to having children too.
A proposal by Barry Walters, an associate professor of obstetric medicine at the University of Western Australia (and backed by Garry Egger, adjunct professor of health sciences at Southern Cross University in New South Wales, Australia) believes a tax on having children would be very helpful. Dr. Walters believes that every family that chooses (freedom of choice) to have more then a specific number of children should be charged a carbon tax. To give an incentive, those who buy condoms or become spayed or neutered (or to use the politically correct term: Sterilization Procedures) would receive carbon credits.
“Population control seems to have gone off the rails in the last 30 years,” Dr Egger says.
“It’s almost forbidden to talk about it these days. It’s almost like smoking – you have to go out in the alleys to talk about it.
“And it’s obvious that population is not going to be controlled by itself or indeed by politicians or economists because … the easy way to make an economy grow is just to have more people.
“And we’re ignoring the fact that the downside of that is the pollution and the carbon footprint that’s created by increasing the population.”
According to Dr. Egger, two babies per couple would be a reasonable “Tax-Free” number of children, because it is a “replacement value”.
Now, I am not a baby expert or a doctor from Australia, but I am a thinker… and form my understanding of the whole population thing is if every couple only has two children, the population will go down. Some people don’t have children, some people die before they can have children, heck, even some children even die before they become adults. If we look at the numbers, a birth rate of 2.1 to 2.2 is required to maintain (not increase) the population as it is.
How much do Dr. Egger and Dr. Walters want to take from you? If you have a third child, the cost would be $5,000 at birth and $800 per year per child. I am not an economist, but I am a thinker, but the way I understand it, as people become adults, they become productive, contributing members of society (well, everyone but hippies, and they smell) and contribute to the country by paying their own taxes. The more people you have, the more people you can tax. As Europe is discovering now (with their negative population growth), it becomes more difficult to pay for all these wiz-bang government programs, if you have less people to tax.
Now, try talking to an environMentalist, and ask them how many children a couple should have. You will get the same response:
“Two. There is no need to have more then what will keep the population where it is” (or something along this line)
The correct response be “I believe in a freedom of choice when it comes to having children, and a couple should have as many children as they want.” Shouldn’t it? Perhaps those who feel they don’t pay enough in taxes should have the freedom to choose to pay more into the government. Or perhaps the world would truly be better off if environMentalists didn’t reproduce.

The Staple Environmentalmobile to be replaced?

You Know Honda/Toyota feel Threatened by GM When…
I am excited about the Chevy Volt. Very excited. Even more so when Honda/Toyota say stuff like this:
Now Honda has jumped into the fray, swinging wildly away at the Great Hybrid Hope from the bow tie brand. This past Tuesday, Honda’s chief exec Takeo Fukui told journalists that “so-called” plug-in hybrid gasoline-electric vehicles didn’t do enough for the environment, so his company isn’t going to pursue them. Not satisfied at leaving it at that, he noted the Chevy Volt specifically and said it made little sense. Fukui said Honda is working on high-performing lithium batteries, and if they succeed a pure battery-powered electric vehicle is in its future.
The Volt is rated to go 40 miles on one charge without using any gasoline. According to statics, the average commuter travels less than that in a day. actually:
70% of those who drive to work, travel less then 40 miles round trip. The average commute is 32 miles round trip.
So, “don’t do enough for the environment” huh? anyone disagree (though I do admit that despite the Hollywood claims, cars only account for 20% of greenhouse gas emissions anyway so we should worry about turning coal to Nuclear before worring about cars, but I digress, the article goes on:
What bothers us about Toyota and Honda going after General Motors and its plans for the Chevy Volt is simply the fact that they’re bothering to address the Volt at all. Stop worrying about what the other guy’s doing and get to work on your own plan for saving the Earth from the evil of the internal combustion engine. We get it, you both aren’t down with doing a plug-in series hybrid like the Volt. Then what are you going to do and where is it? Rather than claiming consumers aren’t going to respond well to a hybrid that has to be plugged in everyday (yeah, who wants to get their fuel from the outlet in their garage rather than driving down the street for it?), quit yer yappin’ and show us a better solution!
We’re not claiming the Volt will be a silver bullet for saving the environment. In fact, it’s likely an even shorter stop gap between the cars we drive today and pure electric vehicles that sacrifice nothing in terms of range and durability than the common parallel hybrids we drive today. Battery technology, however, isn’t there yet, and if the Volt can provide consumers super high fuel economy in the meantime, is that a bad thing? Perhaps for Toyota and Honda it is.
Now, The Prius has become a staple for the “I don’t know any better about the environment but all my friends are doing it” EnvironMentalists… as we all know 57% of the people who buy a Prius say the Number one reason they got it is: “Because it makes a statement and says something about me” instead of “It helps the planet”
So I predict you will see the volt be suscessful; if Honda/Toyota are worried about it after all. But note my prediction here: Many EnvironMentalists will still Claim they “prefer their prius” or “Like the hybrids” more because of this zen-style bullshit over the pride of “I burn zero fuel in an American car” thing. Because as I noted at a doctor’s office I am at this week, while EVERY car in the parking lot is American except for the vehicles that belong to the three doctors (2 Lexus vehicles and one Infinity)… Owing an foreign car isn’t about how long the vehicles last, or performance, or how much better it is for the environment… but its about making a statement to those who see you behind the wheel. EnvironMentalism is not only about forcing those who have more then you to give it up… It’s about vanity.
Thats my opinion anyway. Thoughts? This is a big deal.. And I’m not talking about a $45,000 100mile range then charge for 8-10 hours crap like the EV1. I’m talking about an electric vehicle that actually makes sence. And not Church Dogma sence like the Prius. Check it out.
Weather Channel founder: global warming ‘the greatest scam in history’
Nov 9th
John Coleman, Founder of the Weather Channel: “It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM.”
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the church try to discredit John here for “ties to big oil” or someother nonesence. But I thought there was a consensus and the science was settled… Apparently not.
The Church is not going to be a fan of John Coleman, the founder/boss of the Weather Channel. He published in his blog that Global warming is “the greatest scam in history.”
The whole thing can be downloaded from Icecap.us here.
Now, I know it was big news when Al Gore got his Nobel Peace Prize and his emmy and all, but you don’t seam to see the story about John here anywhere in the big news yet. I understand it only happened yesterday, but come on. Then Again, what with NBC’s whole Green Week going on now, it would be a shame to point out how the only green the Church of Global Warming is intrested in is the kind with dead presidents on it.

Comment by GUEST on 2007-12-04 01:51:58 cant be a scam all reasearch says global warming is contributed to by fuel use (carbon dioxide emissions.) the only researchers who disagree are the ones who get paid research grants by the oil companies, and dont do any research at all. most haven t for 10 years. by the way these are the same people whose (research) told us that smoking is not dangerous and doesn t cause cancer. saw it on investigative report. |

Comment by admin on 2007-12-04 09:45:56 Could you show us where the founder of the weather channel has gotten paid from the oil companies? Also, by “All research says global warming is contributed to by fuel use” where do you get this statement? It is a little dangerous to use the word “All” when talking about anything. On the topic of who gets paid by who… what about “Big Environment?” I’m sure since you are tracking who gets paid by oil companies and take that into account as BIAS, you would be just as skeptical to take information by those paid off by Environmental groups, correct? “by the way these are the same people whose (research) told us that smoking is not dangerous and doesn t cause cancer.” If you could show me a list of the names of scientists who said both “Man isn’t causing global warming” and “Smoking doesn’t cause Cancer” I would love to see it! |

Comment by GUEST on 2008-01-28 15:08:09 Your deflection of those comments from 2007-12-04 does not address the real issue at hand – human caused or “anthropogenic” climate change. Climatologists prefer to use “climate change” because it is a more accurate term than “global warming.” While John Coleman was a meteorologist (and a businessman – as for the relevance of starting a cable channel, I don’t see it), he is only 1 (one) vociferous, moderately qualified person making ‘scam’ claims. If you would honestly like to be pointed in the direction of solid, scientific peer-reviewed research, I suggest you start with the Intergovernmenal Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) or the Union of Concerned Scientists. It is a big world. There is not just one cause of climate change. A strong correlation, however, has been shown between greenhouse gas levels and the Earth’s temperature. If we are affecting the normal cycle with our human industries, can we be sure that we will be able to survive in the resulting world? Furthermore, while no one can answer that question; if we can use our existing technologies to reduce warming gases, why wouldn’t we use them? Because we need proof first? Do we need proof that we will get heart disease when we are 60 years old to make us buy health insurance when we are 40? No. Some call it the precautionary principle. No matter what you call it is simply common sense. As for your quote by the Canadian Environmental Minister promising justice and equality as the result of climate change: I’d like to see her tell that schlock to the people of the Tuvalu or Kiribati islands, who will have to flee their home islands because they are being flooded by rising ocean levels. Thanks for the opportunity to comment. I would further like to add that your usage of the star and crescent is misleading and could be offensive to people who practice Islam. In the first glimpses of your website, one encounters an inflammatory combination of images that immediately reveals information askew. Well Done!~ m.e.a. |

Comment by admin on 2008-02-06 22:07:10 The comment left originally didn’t need to be “deflected” as even one as wise as yourself could see that the use of the word “all” when looking at research is inaccurate, unless you don’t count all that research that says the Sun Spot activity is to blame. We need proof first because those that make governmental policy are willing to throw away billions and billions of (insert any country’s currency here) into environMental programs to try to stop what can be seen as a normal changing of the seasons. Why regulate C02 when in the Late Ordovician Period, CO2 levels were over 11 times higher than today (4400 ppm) but the Late Ordovician Period was also an Ice Age? What about the science that says C02 follows warming? If we are to enact live changing governmental regulations, yes we need proof. And I’m glad you like the Images. Stay tuned… The Star of David CLF Light Bulb and Catholic Cross Windmill images aren’t quite done yet. |

Comment by KnowonSpecial on 2009-07-11 00:58:21 Admin – excellent response, I’m a bit surprised that you didn’t hurt yourself laughing at his “solid, scientific peer-reviewed research . . . IPCC” 1. Not “solid” – of the less than 2,400 involved on that report more than 10% have either reversed their views, ameliorated (liberals will need to look up that word, sorry) their opinions, disassociated themselves from the report or have had their work exposed as fraudulent or out-right deception. The remainder have been exposed as using faulty, broken models, and censoring and removing data which proved their conclusions inaccurate. 2. Not “scientific” – of all the less than 2,400 total involved in the IPCC report, less than 1,800 were “scientists”, most were governmental (politicians, duh!)appointees and/or eco-activists. Also, less than 1,000 had scholarly degrees, at all, and fewer than that with a degree higher than Bachelors, few had Ph.D.’s. Of course the more than 30,000 (that’s thirty thousand for the California educated liberal who has difficulty with real numbers, which is like, you know, more than 2,400)real scientists who have signed on as denying man-made Global Warming, over 1,500 have Ph.D.’s and nearly 2/3 of them all have degrees in a RELATED field of study. 3. Not “peer reviewed” – part of the embarrassment of the panel was the fact that most of the data used was NOT peer-reviewed. 4. Not really “research” – Real researchers understand that real research requires you to observe. Not build fun little computer models and watch who skewed you can run the model projections by deliberately imputing whacked out (scientific term used by IPCC researchers) numbers, that often left out critical data or deliberately used inaccurate measures. Even NASA has acknowledged the broken measuring, and the IPCC admitted that critical data was “censored” and “edited out”. The IPCC also shot themselves in the foot with the release of the information showing that several of those scientists who did work on their report told them that global warming did not exist, the evidence did not support it and that anthropogenic global warming was simply not true and that the IPCC ignored their conclusions and basically published what they knew the politicians wanted so they could forward their power grabbing/greedy agenda (aka Cap ‘n’ Trade) Anyway, just wanted to say “hi”, really terrific site here, good job! Congressman John D. Dingell’s Global Warming Tax Plan
Oct 3rd
Congressman John D. Dingell’s Global Warming Tax Plan, as listed on his website, can in no way be confused with socialism as long as you don’t read it.
Summary of Draft Carbon Tax Legislation
Representative John D. Dingell
The earth is getting warmer and human activities are a large part of the cause. We need to act in order to prevent a serious problem. The world’s best scientists agree we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60-80 percent by 2050 in order to limit the effects of global warming and this legislation will put us on track to do just that.
This is a massive undertaking, and it will not be easy to achieve, but we simply must accomplish this goal; our future and our children’s futures depend on it.
In order to get to this end we need to have a multi-pronged approach. In addition to an economy wide cap-and-trade program, which would mandate a cap on carbon emissions, a fee on carbon is the most effective way to curb emissions and make alternatives economically viable.
Below you will find a summary of the carbon tax legislation I am working on. I invite you to comment on the proposal. Once I have received your comments, I will look at ways we can address the ideas and concerns brought to my attention by the American people.
We must remember we all have a common goal and are in this fight together. I look forward to hearing from you.
The legislation I am proposing would impose the following:
A tax on carbon content:
- $50 / ton of carbon (phased in over 5 years and then adjusted for inflation)
Coal, including lignite and peat
Petroleum and any petroleum product
Natural gas
A tax on gasoline:
- .50/ gallon of gas, jet fuel, kerosene (petroleum based) etc…(added to current gas tax) (phased in over 5 years and then adjusted for inflation)
- Exemption for diesel – The fuel economy benefits of diesel surpass even its emissions benefits; it provides about a thirty percent increase in fuel economy and a twenty percent emissions reduction
- Biofuels that do not contain petroleum are exempt. Biofuels blended with petroleum are only taxed on the petroleum portion of the fuel.
**The .50 gas tax is in addition to what is derived from the per ton carbon tax in the previous bullet.
Phase out the mortgage interest deduction on large homes. These homes have contributed to increased sprawl and longer commutes. Despite new homes in and of themselves being more energy efficient, the sheer size, sprawl and commutes lead to dramatically more energy use – or to put it more simply, a larger carbon footprint.
Specifically, the proposal:
-
- Phases out the mortgage interest on primary mortgages on houses over 3000 square feet.
- Exemptions for historical homes (prior to 1900) and farm houses.
- Exemptions for home owners who purchase carbon offsets to make home carbon neutral or own homes that are certified carbon neutral.
-
- An owner would receive 85% of the mortgage interest deduction for homes 3000-3199 square feet
- 70% for homes 3200-3399 square feet
- 55% for homes 3400-3599 square feet
- 40% for homes 3600-3799 square feet
- 25 % for homes 3800-3999 square feet
- 10% for homes 4000-4199 square feet
- 0 for homes 4200 square feet and up
- Phases out the mortgage interest on primary mortgages on houses over 3000 square feet.
See an example of how the changes in the mortgage interest deduction would work.
Where will the revenue go?
First and foremost, the Earned Income Tax Credit will be expanded. This helps lower income families compensate for the increased taxes on fuels.
- Expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit
-
- Zero Children:
- max earned income level from $5,590 to $7000
- Phase-out from $7000 to $9000
- Zero Children:
-
- One Child:
- Max earned income level from $8390 to $10,000
- Phase-out from $15,390 to $17,000
- One Child:
-
- Two or More:
- Max earned income level from $11,790 to $15,000
- Phase-out from $15,390 to $18,000
- Two or More:
The revenue from the gas tax goes into the high way trust fund, with 40 % going to the mass transit and 60 % going to roads. The revenue from the tax on jet fuel goes into the airport and airway trust fund.
Finally, the revenue from the fee on carbon will go into the following accounts:
- Medicare and Social Security
- Universal Healthcare (upon passage)
- State Children’s Health Insurance Program
- Conservation
- Renewable Energy Research and Development
- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Now, the Media Will Never Run Out of Global Warming Signs
Sep 1st
Never mind higher temperatures (or colder temperatures), Now any event can be a cause of Global Warming. Hurricane? You Bet! Tsunamis? Of course. Droughts and/or Flooding? Yes both! Earthquakes, Volcanoes, and Landslides? Why not?
As Guardian.co.uk reciently pointed out this article by Bill McGuire, Even Earthquakes can be linked to Global Warming.
Unlike most apparently intractable problems, which have a tendency to go away when examined closely and analytically, the climate change predicament just seems to get bigger and scarier the more we learn about it.
Thats right, because the closer you examine Climate Change, the more you realize that just because humans didn’t cause the mid-evil warm peroid (or any of the other moments in Earth’s history that it was as warm or warmer then it is now) doesn’t mean this time it isn’t our fault. I mean, look at all the… Big Oil somethingotother….
Now we discover that not only are the oceans and the atmosphere conspiring against us, bringing baking temperatures, more powerful storms, floods and ever-climbing sea levels, but the crust beneath our feet seems likely to join in too.
Amen Brotha, Preach on!
Looking back to other periods in our planet’s history when the climate was swinging about wildly, most notably during the last ice age, it appears that far more than the weather was affected. The solid earth also became restless, with an increase in volcanic activity, earthquakes, giant submarine landslides and tsunamis. At the rate climate change is accelerating, there is every prospect that we will see a similar response from the planet, heralding not just a warmer future but also a fiery one.
Several times in the past couple of million years the ice left its polar fastnesses and headed towards the equator, covering much of the world’s continents in ice sheets over a kilometre thick, and sucking water from the oceans in order to do so. As a consequence, at times when the ice was most dominant, global sea levels were as much as 130m lower than they are today; sufficient to expose land bridges between the UK and the continent and Alaska and Russia.
Now, we here at the Church of Global Warming feel it is important to point out here how even though McGuire points out how the climate was “swinging about wildly” or how ice left polar areas before, its still Man’s fault this time.
Each time the ice retreated, sea levels shot up again, sometimes at rates as high as several metres a century. In the mid 1990s, as part of a study funded by the European Union, we discovered that in the Mediterranean region there was a close correlation between how quickly sea levels went up and down during the last ice age and the level of explosive activity at volcanoes in Italy and Greece.
Ok, so the sea levels move around and volcanos and earthquakes happen. Lets look at why this is important when it comes to preaching the word of Gore to the public. For this all we need to do is simply look at one of the areas in the United States for geologic activity. (You can look at any realy, but to keep from boring you to death, we’ll just pick one. Feel free to Google others.) New Madrid Fault System is a area in the middle of the North American tectonic plate that has a history of shooting off 6.0-8.0 quakes every so-many years. Most areas that experiance earthquakes are no diffrent, in that the plate(s) under the ground tend to ‘pop’ on a regular basis. According to Southwest Missouri State University:
A damaging earthquake in this area (6.0 or greater) occurs about every 80 years (the last one in 1895). There is a 50% chance of such a quake by the year 2000. The results would be serious damage to schools and masonry buildings from Memphis to St. Louis.
A major earthquake in this area (7.5 or greater) happens every 200-300 years (the last one in 1812). There is a 10% chance of such a disaster by the year 2000 and a 25% chance by 2040. A New Madrid Fault rupture this size would be felt throughout half the United States and damage expected in 20 states or more. Missouri alone could anticipate losses of at least $6 billion from such an event.
The Great New Madrid Earthquake of 1811-12 was actually a series of over 2000 shocks in five months, five of which were 8.0 or more in magnitude. Eighteen of these rang church bells on the Eastern seaboard. The very land itself was destroyed in the Missouri Bootheel, making it unfit for farming for many years. It was the largest burst of seismic energy east of the Rocky Mountains in the history of the U.S. and was several times larger than the San Francisco quake of 1905.
When will another great earthquake happen the size of those in 1811-12? Several lines of research suggest that the catastrophic upheavals like those in 1811-1 2 visit the New Madrid region every 500-600 years. Hence, emergency planners, engineers, and seismologists do not expect a repeat of the intensity of the 1811-12 series for at least 100 years or more. However, though the chance is remote, experts assign a 1% probability of an 8.0 or greater seismic event by the year 2000 and a 3% probability by the year 2040. Earthquake probabilities for known active faults always increase with time, because stresses within the earth slowly and inexorably mount year by year until the rocks reach there limits, and sudden rupture becomes inevitable.
Our greatest concerns are the 6.0-7.6 events, which do have significant probabilities in the near future. A 6.0 shock has a 90% chance by the year 2040. Damaging earthquakes of this magnitude are a virtual certainty within the lifetimes of our children.
Now, you see, in less links then it takes to link John Travolta to Kevin Bacon, you have Global Warming – Sea Levels – Earthquakes/Volcanos. And because of this link, when a plate pops, all the media needs to do is point to the event as another sign of Global Warming. I wonder now how they will explain off the sea level rise in the last 22k years that wasn’t our fault.
Less Than Half of all Published Scientists Endorse Global Warming Theory
Aug 31st
As talked about here and here and here.
This may be hard for those at Wikipedia or RealClimate.org (often the same people who contribute to RealClimate.org also edit Global Warming related articles on Wikipedia, but that’s another topic) to choke down, but less than half of the published scientists endorse the dogma of humans causing Global Warming.
From the article at Dailytech.com
In 2004, history professor Naomi Oreskes performed a survey of research papers on climate change. Examining peer-reviewed papers published on the ISI Web of Science database from 1993 to 2003, she found a majority supported the “consensus view,” defined as humans were having at least some effect on global climate change. Oreskes’ work has been repeatedly cited, but as some of its data is now nearly 15 years old, its conclusions are becoming somewhat dated.
Now Now, you have to give The Church some credit here, not all of their data is “dated” material… otherwise they would be referencing the coming of the new Ice Age as described in the 70s… so lets not give them too hard of a time here. They are trying to use the most current information possible… or is that, the shortest time-span possible? Moving on…
Medical researcher Dr. Klaus-Martin Schulte recently updated this research. Using the same database and search terms as Oreskes, he examined all papers published from 2004 to February 2007. The results have been submitted to the journal Energy and Environment, of which DailyTech has obtained a pre-publication copy. The figures are surprising.
A pre-publication copy? You want us to listen to a pre-publication copy? That will never fly, I mean, we must always wait for the actual item to come out before coming to any conclusion… I mean, they did that with the Iraq study report and the IPCC report right? I mean, or not I guess.
Of 528 total papers on climate change, only 38 (7%) gave an explicit endorsement of the consensus. If one considers “implicit” endorsement (accepting the consensus without explicit statement), the figure rises to 45%. However, while only 32 papers (6%) reject the consensus outright, the largest category (48%) are neutral papers, refusing to either accept or reject the hypothesis. This is no “consensus.”
Well, “no consensus” only if you refer to “consensus” by the dictionary definition, but… he he… how often do you look at the dictionary anyway, I mean realy. Do we need to bring ‘facts’ into this?
The figures are even more shocking when one remembers the watered-down definition of consensus here.
Oh Snap.
Not only does it not require supporting that man is the “primary” cause of warming, but it doesn’t require any belief or support for “catastrophic” global warming. In fact of all papers published in this period (2004 to February 2007), only a single one makes any reference to climate change leading to catastrophic results.
Wait wait wait! you can’t be serious! but.. MSNBC says otherwise! And they’ve got a very impressive multimedia slideshow to boot! They even have Gavin Schmidt and Michael Mann in this article to tell us how wrong skeptics are (who by the way are both RealClimate.org members).
These changing viewpoints represent the advances in climate science over the past decade. While today we are even more certain the earth is warming, we are less certain about the root causes. More importantly, research has shown us that — whatever the cause may be — the amount of warming is unlikely to cause any great calamity for mankind or the planet itself.
Now, thats just dangerous talk! With that kind of attitude, how are we to scare the public into giving up their SUVs and their money by way of Carbon Offsets? This is kind of talk is just… irresponsible! We must be warning the public of the upcoming catastrophically catastrophic catastrophe before they realize temperatures move around and the sun has more of an impact do with the earth’s climate then humans ever will its too late and we are unable to rally people to change governmental policy!
Schulte’s survey contradicts the United Nation IPCC’s Fourth Assessment Report (2007), which gave a figure of “90% likely” man was having an impact on world temperatures. But does the IPCC represent a consensus view of world scientists? Despite media claims of “thousands of scientists” involved in the report, the actual text is written by a much smaller number of “lead authors.” The introductory “Summary for Policymakers” — the only portion usually quoted in the media — is written not by scientists at all, but by politicians, and approved, word-by-word, by political representatives from member nations. By IPCC policy, the individual report chapters — the only text actually written by scientists — are edited to “ensure compliance” with the summary, which is typically published months before the actual report itself.
Well, I can’t argue with that except to say… Schuite must be a shill for the oil companies to point out how IPCC manipulates the information provided to them. He’s not anywhere on Exxonsecrets.org but what does that say? Just that he has enough money to cover it up!!
By contrast, the ISI Web of Science database covers 8,700 journals and publications, including every leading scientific journal in the world.
I wonder if you will see this on CNN or MSNBC. I rather doubt it.
600 is the new Million
Jul 28th
According to Richard Hollingham and the BBC, we are causing the Million year Old ice to melt in Greenland dispite the Vikings planting crops there 600 years ago.
This was pointed out to me via Carlo Stagnaro’s posting at Lewrockwell.com. From this BBC article here: Icy Greenland turns green, it would appear that 600 years is longer the a Million. No, there is no need for a calculator, Just take a look at the BBC Article written by Richard Hollingham.
First of all, The Church points out how dire things are:
Greenland’s ice is melting rapidly. In some places, glacial levels have been falling by 10 metresf a year and ultimately contributing to rising sea levels. Travelling to Greenland, Richard Hollingham sees the impact of climate change for himself.
Wow, that’s pretty bad. We have melting ice and rising sea levels that are the impact of Climate Change all in one paragraph. But it gets worse!
A few metres above the ice, the rock is totally bare. A scar running horizontally across the valleys. It is as if the ice has been drained away, like water in a bath, to leave a tide mark. Which is, in effect, what has happened. The ice has melted and the glaciers have retreated hundreds of metres over the past 150 years.
Okay, there is a scar on mother Earth where hundreds of meters of ice has drained away. All because of Humans (climate change). Wow, that’s pretty crappy.
This land was being exposed for the first time for millions of years. Even a century ago, where I stood would have been solid ice, and I was struck by just how much vegetation there was.
Wow. So we are causing Greenland to loose all its ice that’s been there for millions of years because of climate change. Even one thousand years ago it was solid ice. We truly suck. But wait, there is more!
Two paragraphs later, there is a heading titled “Agricultural return.” Well, I know you are too frustrated at Mankind for killing the earth by all the bad news at this point, and probably feel the urge to just go recycle some paper, lets read on just for fun.
The Earth’s climate has warmed before, albeit naturally.
Blaspheme!
A ruined church on the banks of a fjord marks the remains of a Viking farming civilisation.
A ruined Church and the remains of a Viking Farming civilization… Farming? Wait… I thought “this land was being exposed for the firs time for “millions of years” and “even a century ago” the land was covered in ice. this is odd… If the land was under ice for millions of years, how could they farm? Perhaps Richard will help clear this up.
The sun casts shadows through the arched window to the site of the altar, last used in the 1400s before the area was abandoned when it became too cold to support habitation. Today, the farmers are back. Sheep once again graze the surrounding hillside and shiny new tractors work the fields near the southern coast.
Yep thats pretty clear… wait… The land became too cold to support habitation and was abandoned. This guy must be wrong. Let me check Archaeology.org.
Greenland’s climate began to change as well; the summers grew shorter and progressively cooler, limiting the time cattle could be kept outdoors and increasing the need for winter fodder. During the worst years, when rains would have been heaviest, the hay crop would barely have been adequate to see the penned animals through the coldest days.
Oh Snap. So, the Vikings really did grow stuff on Greenland… 600 years ago… when it was… warmer… and the cooling weather helped kill them off. Perhaps BBC should remove that little bit about the Vikings to help the article be more consistent… or they could keep people who don’t know what they’re talking about from publishing articles. The truth completely ruined the Hate-Humans buzz I had going. Thanks a lot Truth!
